Gordon Orr

Gordon Orr has more than 20 years experience as an advisor to leading Chinese and international businesses.  His current roles include:

Between 1993-2015, Gordon launched and then built McKinsey & Company in China as part of a 30 year career with the firm, leading them to become the preeminent professional services firm in China. In addition to leading McKinsey in China for many years, Gordon also led the firms’  Asia practice from 2009-14 and was on their global shareholder board for more than 12 years, where he was responsible for risk management and governance.

Gordon has worked with many of China’s leading companies on strategy, organization and international expansion. He has worked on integrations in China, Japan, India and across south east Asia and with Chinese acquirers venturing into Europe and the US and across industrial, hi tech, consumer goods and services industries. Specifically he has focused on the changes needed to bring two often very different top management teams together in a way that leverages the strengths of both and which creates a sustainable operating model for the future.  Gordon has worked directly with many global boards on their China strategy and with Chinese Chairman on building their international footprint.

Gordon speaks at many fora, including the World Economic Forum, Caixin conferences, business school conferences, chamber of commerce events and China Britain Business Council. He is frequently quoted in mainland and international media and publishes frequently on LinkedIn, Twitter, mckinsey.com and other platforms.
